Kirk Mylander is an Oregon trial lawyer who represents individuals and families in high-stakes civil cases. He brings to that work something relatively rare: years of experience inside the institutions on the other side of the table.
Before focusing his practice on helping people, Kirk spent years defending organizations, advising leadership, managing litigation, and seeing firsthand how employers, insurers, and public entities evaluate risk, respond to claims, and make decisions when the pressure is on.
That background matters for one reason: it helps him fight smarter for his clients. Kirk knows how cases are analyzed behind closed doors, what arguments move decision-makers, and where the pressure points are in a defense. He is thorough in preparation, direct in advice, and relentless when the facts and the law require a fight.
"When someone entrusts a lawyer with their story, that trust is not a small thing. It is a privilege, and it creates a duty to fight hard for justice."
Kirk ultimately chose to use his experience on behalf of people, not institutions. That decision was shaped not only by what he saw in practice, but by what he values personally. He believes clients deserve a lawyer who will truly listen, tell them the truth, and be ready to do the hard work their case requires.

Trial Lawyer — Plaintiff's Advocate
Representing individuals and families in high-stakes civil cases across Oregon since 1999.
Early in his career, Kirk practiced litigation at Hart Wagner and Miller Nash, where he handled complex disputes and developed as a courtroom advocate. He later served for many years at Citycounty Insurance Services, including as General Counsel, where he advised executive leadership, built and led an in-house legal team, oversaw major litigation, and negotiated difficult, high-exposure matters.
That experience sharpened his strategic judgment and clarified where he wanted to stand. Kirk ultimately chose to use his experience on behalf of people, not institutions.
Warm, Strategic, and Fully Prepared
Clients who work with Kirk get a lawyer who is warm, responsive, and personally invested in their case — but also exacting, strategic, and fully prepared to take on powerful opponents.
He understands that for most clients, a lawsuit is not just a legal problem. It is often one of the hardest chapters of their lives. His job is to help carry that burden, pursue the truth, and press the case with skill and resolve.
Outside the office, Kirk enjoys running, scuba diving, and spending time with family and friends. He's also a long-suffering Portland Trail Blazers fan.

Trust Is Not a Small Thing
As Kirk sees it, when someone entrusts a lawyer with their story, that trust is not a small thing. It is a privilege, and it creates a duty to fight hard for justice.
He believes clients deserve a lawyer who will truly listen, tell them the truth, and be ready to do the hard work their case requires. That belief is not a marketing statement — it is the reason he chose to stand where he stands.
